Youth donates mother

The gesture of a 24-year-old youth, Deepak Patolat, to donate kidneys of his mother admitted to the Command Hospital on February 22 and declared brain dead, has given a new lease of life to a 34-year-old soldier in the final stage of renal failure.
One kidney was transplanted on the soldier (identity not disclosed) by doctors at the Command Hospital between February 24 night and February 25 morning.
Laxmi Patolat (40) was admitted to the Command Hospital and declared brain dead by doctors, who, subsequent to medical procedures, confirmed her dead. Deepak was approached for organ donation. Brigadier RSV Kumar, one of the doctors who conducted the operation, said,
